Thank you for your interest in road cycling!

Rainbow Sport Zurich's road cycling program focuses on group rides at a low to rather medium level of intensity. We have fun as a group, ensure our safety during the rides, and support each other.


When and where?

From April to October, we usually meet on the first Sunday of the month at 10:30 a.m. at the kiosk on Bürkliplatz in Zurich. Any changes to the schedule or additional rides will be announced in advance in the WhatsApp group. Rides are postponed in case of rain or wet roads. From November to March, additional rides may be offered in case of good weather and at the request of members.


Rides

We ride 80 to 130 kilometers on hilly to mountainous terrain at an average speed of 22 to 26 km/h and up to approximately 1000 meters of elevation gain.


Equipment

We ride road bikes. Triathlon and gravel bikes are also permitted by prior arrangement. Helmets and clipless pedals are mandatory. Please bring spare inner tubes, repair tools, a pump, water bottle(s), food, and sunscreen. We usually make a short stop for refreshments (café, shop). Wear clothing appropriate for the weather.


Safety and communication

Riding in a group is demanding and involves risks. Relevant rules of conduct and hand signals will be discussed together before each group ride. Of course, we adhere to traffic regulations. Insurance coverage and liability are the responsibility of the participants. Communication within the group is generally in German. If necessary, translations into English can be provided.

Cost

With the exception of the basic membership of Rainbow Sport Zurich there are no further fees.
