Welcome to the international lgbtiqa+ badminton tournament in zurich!

It’s that time of year again! We are proud to announce our 24th International Badminton Tournament in Zürich, and as our community, we want you at the heart of the action. Get ready for fast and furious rallies, thunderous smashes, and serving shuttles!

This year, the Rainbow Badminton Open will take place from August 14th to August 16th 2026. While we welcome over 100 LGBTQIA+ players from across Europe, this is our home tournament.

Whether you're a seasoned player, at the beginning of your badminton career or a passionate fan, the International LGBTIQA+ Badminton Tournament is a perfect blend of sport, community, and celebration.

 

Tournament

We offer gender-neutral competitions in both Doubles and Singles for the categories: A, B+, B-, C+, and C-.

The matches begin with a group stage in a round-robin format, followed by full knockout rounds to determine the final rankings.

To ensure the best playing experience, all categories play with real feather shuttles.

 

Agenda

We have planned a full weekend of activities to ensure you have plenty of time to connect both on and off the court:

● Friday, August 14: Kick off the weekend with our Welcome Drink event, a perfect chance to meet fellow players before the competition begins.

● Saturday, August 15: The Main Tournament takes place in Zürich at Dreifachhalle Blumenfeld (Blumenfeldstrasse 50, 8046 Zürich). After the final matches, join us for a celebratory Tournament BBQ in the evening followed by the Tournament Party.

● Sunday, August 16: Before heading home, join us for a farewell social gathering (exact format TBD) to wind down and say your goodbyes.

Fees

Throughout the tournament, beverages, snacks and sandwiches will be provided free of charge. The tournament fees cover participation in singles, doubles or both.

● Tournament fees: CHF 60

● BBQ (Saturday): CHF 20

● Brunch (Sunday): CHF 25

 

Registration

Registration opens on February 1, 2026, at 12:00 AM via the link provided below and will operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Once the maximum number of participants is reached, a waiting list will be established.

After successfully registering, you will receive an automated confirmation acknowledging receipt of your registration. Please note that your registration will only be considered complete once the required fees have been paid. Register now
