Pitch Beach Lisbon 2023

Dani, Erich, Roger, Stefan (with husband Dima) and Zoli represented the Zurich Sea Lions at this year’s Pitch Beach in Lisbon.
We all stayed in a three-bedroom apartment in Barrio Alto, which turned out to be a good choice as it was cozy and central.
The tournament started on Thursday, July 13 with a welcome reception at the Late Birds Hotel in luxurious conditions.

Swimming took place on Friday morning at the Complexo Desportivo de Alpraia. After a light hot lunch (provided by the organizers) and some “chilling” in the afternoon, the awards ceremony, aperitif and evening buffet took place in the hall of the Time Out Market in Lisbon. Thanks to the Spaniards from the two Madrid clubs, this turned into a crazy party night.
The next day was spent chilling on the beach, sightseeing, leisurely drinking beer and curing the hangover. On Friday evening we had an excellent dinner in the historic rooms of Casa do Alentejo, followed by the award ceremony.

Roger and Stefan won gold medals as the best swimmers in their category, while we all finished on the podium with our relay team.

After dinner and the award ceremony, we partied at the Trumps discotheque, but the party quickly became crowded, so we went to the sidebar to laugh at drunk people, which is the best activity ever in Lisbon.

Some of us spent a few more days in this beautiful city.
