Eurogames Bern 2023

The 21st edition of the EuroGames took place this year in our beautiful federal city of Bern. After more than 20 years, the LGBTQ+ sports event was present in Switzerland for the second time. Accordingly, a large pack of Sea Lions was on site. There could have been a few more Sea Lions if the registration limit had not been reached so quickly.

The Sea Lions who took part in the competition won 17 gold, 6 silver and 7 bronze medals. In the relays, there were 4 gold and silver medals and 1 bronze, as one Sea Lion helped out our Geneva colleagues from H2O.

For some Sea Lions it was their first swimming competition ever and it probably won’t be the last. Of course, a few Sea Lions also ventured ashore and competed in the other 20 sports on offer.

The cohesion and mutual support between the Sea Lions and the Frontrunners was particularly noteworthy. Of course, there was also partying and dancing in the evenings. The crowning finale was the Bern Pride on Saturday, although the weather unfortunately didn’t quite cooperate. However, it did not dampen the mood and there were celebrations and demonstrations for equal rights on the Bundesplatz.

The next EuroGames will take place in Vienna from 17 to 20 July 2024. We are already looking forward to another edition of the colourful games.
